Thomas Ingenlath, the CEO of Polestar, recently introduced the company’s latest electric vehicle, the Polestar 4, a midsize SUV with a sleek coupe design. Ingenlath emphasized the importance of creating a high-quality car that stands out in the competitive market. The Polestar 4 is not only stylish but also eco-friendly, using a monomaterial approach for easier recycling and incorporating sustainable materials like recycled fishing nets and plastic bottles in its interior.

The Polestar 4 boasts impressive performance, with the Long Range Dual Motor version delivering up to 536 hp and 506 lb-ft of torque. This model can travel 270 miles on a single charge and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. In addition to its performance mode, the Polestar 4 also features a range mode for improved efficiency, disconnecting the front motor and adjusting throttle response. The car is equipped with a heat pump and can fast-charge at rates of up to 200 kW.

For a more budget-friendly option, Polestar offers a Long Range Single Motor variant with half the power and torque of the Dual Motor version but a range of 300 miles. This model starts at $64,900 and offers a more modest performance but still delivers a smooth driving experience. Despite recent tariffs on Chinese-made EVs, Polestar has committed to honoring the original pricing for customers who have already placed orders. Production of US-market Polestar 4s will soon shift to South Korea to reduce import tariffs.

In terms of driving experience, the Polestar 4 is surprisingly agile and responsive, thanks to its electric motors that deliver instant torque. The car’s suspension setup, with coil springs and dampers, ensures a comfortable ride, especially in the Dual Motor version with active dampers. The performance pack option enhances the driving dynamics with stiffer springs and antiroll bars, although it may lead to a firmer ride quality and increased road noise.

Overall, the Polestar 4 combines impressive performance, eco-friendly design, and innovative features to offer a unique driving experience in the competitive luxury electric SUV market. With its focus on sustainability and quality, Polestar aims to set new standards for electric vehicles and redefine the future of automotive design and technology.
