Mariam Naficy, who founded Eve cosmetics and Minted design marketplace, has launched a new venture called Arcade AI. This platform offers a unique marketplace where users, known as “Dreamers,” can input their ideas into a generative AI platform to create custom jewelry designs. The platform allows users to choose from a variety of materials such as gold, brass, silver, and gemstones like diamonds, garnet, and ruby.
I personally tried out the platform and was able to create a delicate gold floral necklace that perfectly matched my aesthetic. However, there were some limitations with the AI generator, such as difficulty in creating complex objects like a twenty-sided die. Naficy mentioned that they are constantly working on improving the editing tools to enhance user experience.
Designing custom jewelry on Arcade can vary in cost, depending on the complexity of the design. Prices can range from $100 for simpler pieces to over $1,000 for more intricate designs. Users can also earn a 2.5% commission on sales of their designs on the platform. Naficy emphasized that even if users cannot afford to purchase their creations, they can still enjoy the process of designing and sharing their creations with others.
Although using AI to design jewelry may raise concerns among traditional designers, Naficy stated that the artisans featured on Arcade see it as an opportunity to increase business and better understand consumer preferences. The AI model is programmed not to replicate designs exactly and has measures in place to prevent copying of intellectual property.
In the future, Arcade plans to expand into other product categories such as accessories, apparel, and leather goods. The platform also aims to introduce more social features, including the ability for sellers to interact with buyers and community competitions. Additionally, Arcade is looking to partner with major brands to offer products directly through the platform.
With $17 million in funding from investors like Ashton Kutcher, Reid Hoffman, and Colin Kaepernick, Arcade AI is poised to revolutionize the way custom-designed products are created and shared. The platform’s innovative approach to combining AI technology with user creativity opens up new possibilities for independent artists and designers to showcase their work.
