Dice recently announced an exciting crossover event for Battlefield 2042 that will bring content inspired by Dead Space to the game. The limited-time event, scheduled to start on July 9 and end on July 16, will include a new mode called Outbreak, based on the survival horror game. In this mode, squads will face a new and relentless enemy in the Boreas laboratory, testing their resilience and resourcefulness.
To give players a taste of what’s to come, Dice released an official reveal trailer showcasing teams battling against zombie-like creatures reminiscent of the Necromorphs from Dead Space. During the event, players will have the opportunity to unlock free rewards by participating, such as a new weapon charm, a horror game-inspired skin, player card backgrounds, and tags.
Additionally, a special Dead Space bundle will be available for purchase, featuring a legendary specialist outfit named ‘Marked Man’, three legendary weapon skins, and other goodies for 2200 BFC. This collaboration is part of Battlefield 2042’s Season 7: Turning Point, which will be the final season for the game.
Although Season 7 marks the end of post-launch content for Battlefield 2042, Dice reassured players that the game will continue to receive support through new in-game challenges, events, modes, and maintenance. The decision to conclude Season 7 was made to shift resources and focus towards the future of the Battlefield series.
Looking ahead, Electronic Arts’ CEO confirmed that the next Battlefield installment will be a “tremendous live service” title. Motive, the studio responsible for the Dead Space remake and Star Wars: Squadrons, has joined forces with Criterion and Ripple Effect to expand the Battlefield universe through connected multiplayer experiences and single-player content.
