I recently had the chance to experience something really cool that combined my love for collecting toys, Comic-Con, and Marvel Studios. It was an opportunity offered by Funko at San Diego Comic-Con to “Pop Yourself” as either Deadpool or Wolverine, in celebration of the release of the new Deadpool & Wolverine movie.
The process was a bit hectic due to the large number of fans participating, but it was also a lot of fun. Once you reached the front of the line, you were directed to a site where you could log into your Funko account and customize your Pop figure. You could choose body type, skin tone, hairstyle, and other features to make the Pop look like you. Then, you could add accessories like the Comic-Con exclusive TVA TemPad, pay $50, and voila, you had your very own Funko Pop of Deadpool or Wolverine.
Although there were some technical difficulties, the Funko team was quick to resolve them and ensure that everyone got the Pop figure they wanted. Behind the booth, there were stacks of different pieces being assembled by employees, creating a unique and personalized Pop figure for each fan.
The best part is that this experience is not limited to Comic-Con attendees. You can also “Pop Yourself” at home by visiting a specific link. So, even if you couldn’t make it to San Diego Comic-Con, you can still join in on the fun and create your own custom Funko Pop figure.
