Eve Smart Weather Station Control Enhanced with Matter Integration
Eve, a smart home brand, is relaunching its smart weather station with upgraded support for the Matter standard. The Eve Weather device provides information on the outside temperature, local humidity levels, and the day’s 12-hour forecast through a large display. Additionally, users can learn whether it will be a sunny or cloudy day. The integration of Matter allows for seamless connectivity within a smart home setup. According to Eve, the device can now be connected to other platforms like Google Home, enabling the entire family to access its sensors for weather updates on various devices such as iPhones, Android phones, and voice assistants like Alexa and Siri.
Moreover, Eve states that the Eve Weather can facilitate smarter automations when connected to other devices on the Matter network. For instance, users can link a smart lamp to the weather station and program it to turn on when specific conditions are met, such as a drop in outside temperature. The device can also activate humidifiers and other devices as needed.
Existing features of the Eve Weather remain unchanged, apart from the addition of Matter support. The compact device measures 2.1 x 2.1 x 0.6 inches and has a water resistance rating of IPX4, making it resistant to water splashes but not submersion. The updated Eve Weather is priced at $79.95 and requires a Matter controller like the fifth-generation Echo Dot for optimal performance. Alternatively, users with iPhones can still purchase the HomeKit version of the Eve Weather at the same price. A bundle option, including two devices, is available for $149.90.
Inquiries were made to Eve regarding potential bundle packs for the Matter model, to which the company responded that there are currently no plans for such bundles. However, they mentioned that they would inform customers if this changes in the future. While there may not be many scenarios where multiple Eve Weather devices are needed in a single household, Eve remains open to adjusting their offerings based on consumer demand.
