Team FOLON, a group of over 100 hobbyists, has finally released their highly anticipated Fallout London mod after five years of development. This DLC-sized expansion for Fallout 4 allows players to explore a post-nuclear apocalypse version of London, complete with iconic double decker buses and irradiated football hooligans.
Led by Dean “Prilladog” Carter, Team FOLON’s mod is available for free on GoG and is said to rival the size of Fallout 4 itself. The mod also features a star-studded voice cast, including Neil Newbon and John Bercow, adding to the immersive experience for players.
Originally scheduled for release on April 23, the launch was delayed until July 25, 2024, due to Bethesda’s next-gen update for Fallout 4. Despite this setback, Team FOLON’s ambitious project aims to capture the essence of the Fallout franchise in a new and exciting setting in London.
While Fallout London provides a fresh take on the series outside of its usual American context, Bethesda’s Todd Howard has stated that the game will not be exploring other international locations in the near future. This makes Fallout London a unique and rare opportunity for fans to experience the Fallout universe in a different light.
In a gaming landscape where user-generated content is becoming more prevalent, monetization remains a challenge for creators. Unlike newer titles like Roblox or Fortnite, Bethesda does not have a built-in monetization program for mods. This highlights the dedication and passion of fans like Team FOLON who create content purely for the love of the game.
As the gaming industry continues to evolve, projects like Fallout London showcase the creativity and talent of fan communities. The mod not only expands the Fallout universe but also demonstrates the power of collaboration and passion within the gaming community. Players can now immerse themselves in a post-apocalyptic London and experience a whole new side of the Fallout world thanks to Team FOLON’s hard work and dedication.
