Ford has recently announced a midlife refresh for its Maverick pickup truck, set to release in model year 2025. The most exciting news for fans is the return of the hybrid model, now available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. In 2021, the Maverick impressed many with its 191 hp front-wheel drive hybrid powertrain, achieving over 42 mpg. It offered a practical size for daily use, with the ability to carry heavy loads in the bed or tow trailers, all at an affordable starting price. However, due to supply chain issues, the hybrid was removed as a standard option for MY24.
Ford has now reintroduced the front-wheel drive 2.5 L hybrid as the standard powertrain, with the addition of an all-wheel drive hybrid option. The all-wheel drive model is slightly less efficient but still boasts an impressive 40 mpg, with a towing capacity of up to 4,000 lbs with the towing package. This addresses the customer demand for an all-wheel drive hybrid Maverick. The 2.0 L turbo with front-wheel drive option will no longer be available for purchase.
In addition to the powertrain updates, the MY25 Maverick comes with new tech features, including a 13.2-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The truck also offers 360-degree parking cameras, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, and Pro Trailer Backup Assist for enhanced towing capabilities. Ford has introduced various trim combinations for the new model year, catering to different customer preferences.
While most of the pricing details for the MY25 Maverick are set to be released tomorrow, the starting price for the front-wheel drive hybrid model is $26,295, along with a $1,595 delivery charge. The updated Maverick is expected to hit the market by late 2024, offering customers a versatile and efficient pickup truck option. With the return of the hybrid powertrain and the addition of the all-wheel drive option, Ford aims to meet the diverse needs of its customers and provide a competitive offering in the pickup truck market.
