Intel is gearing up to reveal its new Lunar Lake processor, set to be launched at IFA in Berlin on September 3. The livestreamed event will showcase the breakthrough power efficiency, core performance, graphics performance, and AI computing power of the new processor. This launch is highly anticipated, as it promises to drive future generations of Intel products.
The event will be hosted by top Intel executives Michelle Johnston Holthaus and Jim Johnson, along with notebook partners. This unveiling follows a detailed technical background of Lunar Lake that was released at Computex. Intel aims to provide a full breakdown of the Lunar Lake product during the event, including various processor models and clock speeds.
One of the key features of Lunar Lake is the on-package DRAM, which means laptops equipped with Lunar Lake processors will come with either 16GB or 32GB of non-upgradeable RAM. Additionally, the chip is designed with a combination of four efficiency cores and four performance cores, limiting flexibility but enhancing power. Hyperthreading has been eliminated in Lunar Lake processors, but they are expected to deliver increased performance with a 48 TOPS NPU and the new Xe2 graphics architecture.
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger confirmed that Lunar Lake will be shipped this fall, with over 80 designs from Intel partners. While the focus is currently on Lunar Lake, Intel also has plans for a related desktop chip called Arrow Lake, set to be released before the end of 2024. Despite the absence of Arrow Lake at the IFA event, it is scheduled to ship in the fourth quarter of this year.
The launch of Lunar Lake is significant for the laptop market, as it promises to deliver enhanced performance and power efficiency. With the new processor, Intel is aiming to set a new standard for mobile computing, paving the way for future innovations in the industry. Stay tuned for more updates and details on the Lunar Lake processor as Intel’s livestream event approaches.
