A day after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg talked about his latest social media platform Threads almost reaching 200 million users during the company’s Q2 2024 earnings call, Instagram head Adam Mosseri confirmed that Threads has officially surpassed 200 million active users. The platform has accomplished this milestone in just 13 months since its launch.
Mosseri expressed his excitement about Threads reaching this significant user base and shared his hope that the platform can inspire ideas to bring people together, fostering the growth of its amazing community. Threads, a text-focused social media platform introduced in July 2023, achieved 150 million users in April 2024, followed by 175 million users in July on its one-year anniversary. In comparison, Threads’ main competitor X, formerly known as Twitter, had over 600 million monthly users in May, as confirmed by owner Elon Musk. Mark Zuckerberg previously indicated that Threads had a strong possibility of surpassing a billion users, and during the recent earnings call, he mentioned that the platform is on a positive growth trajectory.
