Star Wars is famous for its memorable costumes, and one of the most iconic pieces is Princess Leia’s bikini, famously worn by Carrie Fisher in “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.” The costume is now set to be auctioned off by Heritage Auctions, with a starting bid of $30,000. This bikini ensemble, created by ILM chief sculptor Richard Miller in collaboration with costume designer Nilo Rodis-Jamero, includes a bikini brassiere, front and back “bikini plates,” two hip rings, one armlet, and one bracelet.
The bikini brassiere is an early version made of rigid resin and shows signs of production use, such as an eye hook repair and glue residue from attempts to add material for Fisher’s comfort. The textile parts of the costume, which is over 40 years old, are recreations, as is the included wig. This piece of Star Wars history is definitely not something you would wear to the beach, given its intricate design.
If you’re a die-hard Star Wars fan with a significant budget, you can participate in the auction at Heritage Auctions before July 25. This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of cinematic history that is sure to be a prized possession for any collector.
In addition to the Princess Leia bikini costume auction, Heritage Auctions offers a variety of other valuable items for collectors.
