Screenwriting has evolved significantly over the years, with many writers now turning to modern tools to bring their film and TV show ideas to life. SoCreate, a new player in the screenwriting software market, is shaking things up with its innovative approach to storytelling that incorporates generative AI imagery and community sharing tools.

While traditional screenwriting software like Final Draft and Celtx offer templates for creating industry-standard screenplays, SoCreate takes it a step further by providing visual and creative tools that are often lacking in other platforms. Founder and CEO Justin Couto recognized the need for a more visual and creative way to write for the visual medium of movies and TV shows, leading to the development of SoCreate.

One of the standout features of SoCreate is its image uploader tool, which allows screenwriters to incorporate visual concepts into their scripts, such as characters, settings, and action moments. Users can upload their own images or choose from SoCreate’s gallery of illustrations. In the future, an AI-powered image generator will be available to inspire users during the writing process, utilizing models like OpenAI and Stable Diffusion.

The recent launch of “Storyteller” on the platform provides a space for users to share their stories in a public library, similar to Wattpad. This feature enables aspiring screenwriters to showcase their work and connect with a community of readers without the need for Hollywood connections. While some writers may have concerns about plagiarism, SoCreate allows users to keep their work private and enforces strict policies against plagiarism.

Looking ahead, Couto envisions expanding Storyteller to include AI-generated character voices, sound effects, and background music to enhance the reading experience. Users can also receive instant feedback from readers through comments and track reading stats to see how their stories are being received.

Although SoCreate is primarily focused on screenwriting for movies, TV shows, and short films, the company is exploring templates for articles, novels, and short stories to appeal to a wider audience of creatives. As the platform continues to grow, subscriptions to access the SoCreate library will be introduced, providing creators with an opportunity to earn revenue from their work through revenue-sharing.

Since its launch last May, SoCreate has attracted over 1,200 subscribers, including writers who have worked for major companies like Amazon, Disney, Marvel, and Netflix. The platform offers a free basic tier, with additional features like the custom image tool and reviewer stats available through paid subscriptions ranging from $5 to $10 per month.

With a $3 million pre-seed funding round under its belt, SoCreate is currently raising a $5 million seed round to support further development and marketing efforts. As the platform continues to innovate and expand its offerings, it aims to revolutionize the way stories are told across various industries beyond just entertainment.
