secure-your-browsing-with-this-hidden-chrome-feature

So, like, Google Chrome has this feature called Safety Check that they brought out in 2020 and have been like, working on making it better ever since. They did this big update in September 2024 to make it even more awesome.

Safety Check kinda just chills in the background of your Chrome browser and keeps an eye on stuff like your passwords, your Safe Browsing settings, what version of Chrome you’re using, your site permissions, your extensions, and any annoying notifications that pop up. If it sees something fishy or not quite right, it gives you a heads up and tells you what to do about it.

If you wanna use Safety Check (which, like, why wouldn’t you?), you just gotta go to Chrome’s Settings page by clicking on the three dots in the corner and selecting Settings. Then, you click on Privacy and security in the left panel and find the Safety Check section in the main area. Click on the button that says Go to Safety Check, and you’re there.

On the Safety Check page, you’ll see a section at the top that’s like, “Safety at a glance,” with some alerts to catch your eye. It’ll tell you if Chrome is all updated, if you’ve got any sketchy passwords, and if Safe Browsing is on. Green check marks are good, but red exclamation marks mean you gotta pay attention. Below that, in the Safety recommendations section, Chrome might point out other security things you need to know about. Like, it might say you haven’t visited certain websites in a while and need to check on their permissions or something.

Not really sure why this matters, but this article originally showed up on this Swedish site and got translated and stuff. But hey, Safety Check is pretty cool, so it’s worth checking out if you wanna keep your browsing experience safe and secure. Just saying.
