Google Introduces New Gemini AI Feature for Google Home Preview Users

Google has unveiled a new Gemini AI feature for smart home users enrolled in the Google Home Public Preview program. This feature, called “Help me create,” allows users to create Google Home automations using natural language prompts powered by Gemini AI.

How It Works

To access this new feature, users simply need to open the Google Home app, navigate to the Automations tab, tap Add, and then select “Help me create.” From there, users can describe in English what they would like the automation to do, such as turning off lights at a specific time or setting reminders.

Once the description is entered, users can tap “Create,” and Gemini AI will generate a proposed automation overview. Users can then review, edit, or save the automation based on their preferences.

Exclusive Availability and Requirements

Currently, the “Help me create” feature is only available to U.S.-based Android users enrolled in the Google Home Public Preview program. Additionally, users must sign up for Nest Aware Plus, a subscription plan that offers various benefits for $15 a month.

This new feature is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to integrate Gemini AI into its smart home ecosystem. Previous Gemini-powered features include advanced voice query responses on Nest speakers and AI smart search for Nest camera events.
