We recently conducted tests on various electric lawnmowers to determine which ones are the best for the year 2024. Our testing process involved running each lawnmower through a series of tests to evaluate their performance. While data is crucial in our evaluation process, actually using the lawnmowers in a real yard setting is the best way to truly understand their capabilities.
One of the key tests we conducted was a battery test. This involved measuring the voltage and amps the lawnmower pulls during operation to determine the motor power in watts. We performed these measurements without any load, such as cutting grass, to get an accurate reading of the motor’s power. In our next round of testing, we plan to include measurements with load to determine the upper power limits of the motors.
Additionally, we measured the blade RPMs of the electric lawnmowers. By combining these numbers with other factors such as blade lengths and weights, we estimated the force exerted by the blade on the grass in Newtons. To provide a more relatable comparison, we also calculated the horsepower output of the electric lawnmowers. Generally, electric lawnmowers operate in the 1.75hp range, which is significantly lower than gas-powered push mowers.
Another important aspect we tested was the noise level of the lawnmowers. Electric lawnmowers are typically quieter than gas-powered ones, making them more suitable for early morning or late evening mowing sessions. We found that the smallest mower, the 13-inch Litheli, had a noise level of 68.6dB, while the most powerful mower, the Ego, registered at 86.7dB.
Speed tests were also conducted to determine how fast the mowers could move in miles per hour. Some electric mowers come with self-propelled options, allowing users to move the mower without the blades running. The Ryobi mower had a wide range of speeds, topping out at 3.03mph, while the Greenworks Pro was slightly faster at 3.33mph.
In conclusion, our tests revealed valuable insights into the performance of electric lawnmowers for 2024. Factors such as battery power, blade RPMs, noise levels, and speed capabilities play a significant role in determining the best electric lawnmower for your needs. Consider these factors when choosing an electric lawnmower for your lawn care needs to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
