Airbnb hosting has become quite complex, requiring hosts to handle various tasks such as setting up listings, managing properties, understanding pricing strategies, communicating with guests, and tracking earnings. As hosts take on more properties, it becomes increasingly challenging to handle everything effectively. To address this issue, Airbnb has introduced the Host Network feature as part of its winter release, allowing hosts to enlist the help of top-rated local co-hosts in managing their properties.

The Host Network functions as a platform similar to LinkedIn or Fiverr, where highly rated local hosts are available for hire. These hosts must have a minimum rating of 4.8 and have hosted at least 10 stays. Currently, Airbnb has onboarded 10,000 hosts onto the network in 10 different countries. These co-hosts can assist with tasks such as listing setup, pricing and availability, booking management, guest support, and property maintenance, setting their own rates for these services. Hosts seeking assistance can view co-host profiles to learn about their skills, services, and rates.

In Airbnb’s Summer 2023 product release, features were introduced allowing hosts to add co-hosts to manage specific tasks and pay them a percentage of booking earnings. The company is now expanding on these features by establishing a new network of professional co-hosts based on host feedback.

Judson Coplan, VP of Product Marketing at Airbnb, highlighted the demand from hosts to find trustworthy co-hosts with a strong track record in their area, allowing hosts to be more hands-off in managing their properties. This network provides hosts with the opportunity to earn income even when they are not directly managing their properties, offering a solution to the increased expectations for bookings and declining income faced by hosts.

In addition to the Host Network, Airbnb is introducing features such as pricing comparisons for similar properties, customizable templates for guest replies, and an enhanced earnings dashboard for hosts. The company is also rolling out updates for guests, including a welcome tour for first-time users, suggested destinations and search filters, simplified checkout processes, and local payment options in various countries.

Furthermore, Airbnb is exploring the use of AI technology for community support, particularly in addressing inquiries related to app usage, cancellations, policies, reservations, and bookings. Judson mentioned the potential for AI to provide quick and accurate answers within the app, with the company already testing AI for summarizing reviews and potentially creating an “ultimate concierge” for customers.

Overall, Airbnb’s Host Network and upcoming features aim to streamline the hosting experience for hosts, offering them greater support in managing their properties and enhancing the overall guest experience through innovative technology and services.
