On Sunday, July 7th, the NYT Connections game #392 presented some challenging groups along with some more approachable ones. If you need hints for the difficult group or any of the others, keep reading. And once you’re done, you can always play more word games like Wordle, Strands, or Quordle, for which I also have hints and answers available.

Today’s NYT Connections words included COPPER, HONEY, COVER, MELT, SUB, SHRINK, HERO, CONDENSE, FREEZE, HACK, BACKUP, SOMEDAY, ALTERNATE, FANTASY, VAPORIZE, and SUIT. The groups were categorized by colors: Yellow for scientists and nature-related actions, Green for swap-ins, Blue for informal job titles, and Purple for Mariah Carey number one hits.

The answers for today’s groups are as follows:
– Yellow: CHANGE STATES OF MATTER (CONDENSE, FREEZE, MELT, VAPORIZE)
– Green: REPLACEMENT (ALTERNATE, BACKUP, COVER, SUB)
– Blue: SLANGY NAMES FOR PROFESSIONS (COPPER, HACK, SHRINK, SUIT)
– Purple: MARIAH CAREY NUMBER ONE HITS (FANTASY, HERO, HONEY, SOMEDAY)

The Connections expert found the first three groups to be easy, but struggled with the Mariah Carey hits group. Despite that, the overall experience was smooth. This game is part of the NYT word games collection, which challenges players to find groups of four items with something in common. The difficulty levels vary, but players can make up to four mistakes.

NYT Connections is available to play for free on the NYT Games website. So, if you enjoy word games and challenges, give it a try and see how well you can do. Have fun connecting the dots and finding the common thread among the words!
