The software supply chain is facing increasing threats, with a report revealing that more than half of organizations have experienced an attack within the past year. These attacks target third-party services or open source software, posing a significant financial risk to businesses. The global economy could lose billions of dollars due to supply chain cyberattacks by 2026.
In response to this growing threat, Lineaje, a startup founded in 2021 by Javed Hasan and Anand Revashetti, has secured $20 million in Series A funding. The company develops tools to detect tampered software in an organization’s supply chain, as well as outdated and vulnerable open source software. Lineaje recommends fixes for vulnerabilities and warns against implementing risky software.
Hasan, Lineaje’s CEO, emphasized the importance of managing software risk for organizations and their customers. He highlighted the need to focus on securing software regardless of its origin. With backgrounds in cybersecurity, Hasan and Revashetti recognized the increasing concerns around software supply chain attacks and decided to address this issue through Lineaje.
Despite facing competition from other platforms like Kusari and Ox Security, Lineaje sets itself apart by collaborating with the U.S. Air Force for anti-terrorism initiatives. The company also aims to expand its presence in the public sector, where agencies encounter similar supply chain challenges as private businesses.
The recent Series A funding, co-led by Prosperity7 Ventures and other investors, will support Lineaje’s growth and acquisition of more public sector clients. Hasan revealed plans to double the company’s workforce by the end of the year, demonstrating confidence in Lineaje’s future success. With a focus on defense work and government partnerships, Lineaje is poised to make a significant impact in enhancing software supply chain security.
